Project Description: This proposal had three main
goals:
- Use robust, precise methods to prospectively assess intolerance,
other adverse events and medical errors during sedation for gastrointestinal
(GI) endoscopy.
- Utilize regression modeling to develop prediction rules to
improve the safety of sedation for children undergoing this procedure.

Tailor existing taxonomies to classify medical errors associated with IV
sedation for GI endoscopy.
Career Goals: Dr. Lightdale received her M.D.
from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and is pediatric gastroenterologist. She
plans to continue research focused in the area of healthcare delivery and
improvement. She has become a leader in patient safety research,
gastrointestinal endoscopy and pediatric sedation.
